Mass Spec Imaging Differentiated Histological Subtypes of Stage 1 Pulmonary Adencarcinoma
Different histological patterns in stage I pulmonary adenocarcinomas have been shown to correlate with disease-free survival, i.e. higher grade patterns such as micropapillary and solid are associated with higher rates of recurrence. However, variation can exist between classifications made by different pathologists, potentially affecting the recommended course of treatment for the patient. Here, we present a histologydirected mass spectrometry profiling approach to allow for objective molecular classification of pulmonary adenocarcinomas. This technique is sensitive, highthroughput, and conducive to biostatistical analysis while preserving spatial information within the tissue.
